The City of Barrie is committed to removing barriers and improving accessibility across policies, programs, and facilities.

As part of ongoing efforts to foster an inclusive community for people of all abilities, older adults, and seniors, the City is reviewing and updating its Multi-year Accessibility Plan and Age-Friendly Community Plan.

Both plans aim to support residents and visitors of all ages by identifying, preventing, and removing barriers to accessibility. To ensure the City continues to meet the evolving needs of the community and the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, periodic reviews are conducted.

The City is inviting feedback from the public to help shape these updates by participating in the Seniors & Accessibility survey. Residents with disabilities, seniors, caregivers, or anyone passionate about creating a more accessible Barrie are encouraged to participate in the Seniors & Accessibility survey, open until November 1, 2024.

The survey is available online, and hard copies can be filled out at Service Barrie (City Hall), Allandale Recreation Centre, Parkview Centre, East Bayfield Community Centre, and Peggy Hill Team Community Centre.

Feedback collected through the survey, along with input from the Seniors and Accessibility Advisory Committee, will directly inform the updates to both the Multi-year Accessibility Plan and the Age-Friendly Community Plan.
