Barrie Transit is going through a mini overhaul, as the powers that be try to make for a faster trip.
According to the City of Barrie, about 20% of a bus route’s travel time is spent at a stop, and when bus stops are too close together, it slows down everyone. In the name of efficiency, some stops are being removed. Others, repositioned. All changes take effect Tuesday, July 16th.
The City says stop optimiziation allows for reduced travel times, increased bus reliabilty and improved stop infrastruture. The change in stops as indicated below represents the first phase of the Bus Stop Optimization Project. Phase Two is already underway.
