Stunt driving charge proves costly for Barrie resident

A 24-year-old from Barrie has had their vehicle impounded for 14-days and their driver's licence suspended for seven days as the result of a stunt driving charge laid by Ontario Provincial Police in Springwater Township.

Police say on March 11 they clocked a vehicle on Sunnidale Road that was travelling 99 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.

The driver was ticketed for speeding and stunt driving.

The accused will appear in court at a later date.

"Drivers and members of the public are reminded to respect our communities, comply with all laws, and not jeopardize the safety of our citizens or our neighborhoods with risky, illegal, and dangerous actions," Huronia West OPP stated in a news release on Tuesday.
