A police RIDE checkpoint located on Ferndale Drive South in Barrie on Wednesday pulled in a motorist who is now facing a charge of impaired driving by drugs.
Police say after speaking with the driver, officers formed reasonable grounds to suspect he was impaired and initiated an investigation.
It's alleged that officers seized 45 grams of suspected cocaine, along with drug paraphernalia.
A 35-year-old Barrie man was also charged with a pair of drug-related offences.
"The RIDE check was conducted as part of Project DRYVE, an initiative focused on impaired driving and harm reduction in identified high-risk areas of the city," according to a police news release.
