A man of no fixed address was arrested by Barrie police in connection to multiple robberies, in which one of them he wore a Batman disguise.

Since December of last year, officers have investigated four robberies at convenience stores just west of Bayfield Street, in the area of Glenwood Drive and Cundles Road West.

Yesterday morning around 10, a man was arrested at the northbound Highway 400 offramp to Bayfield.

Police say a detective "recognized the clothing that he was wearing was identical to clothing that was worn by a suspect during a recent robbery."

The 42-year-old was taken to police headquarters.

"It was determined that this male was responsible for a rash of robberies that had taken place since Monday, December 18, 2023, and Sunday, October 6, 2024," Peter Leon, Barrie police communications coordinator, wrote in a release on Wednesday.

Leon says the man robbed the same convenience store, located in a retail plaza on Cundles Road West, just west of Bayfield, three times. The fourth was at a Glenwood convenience store.

"In two of the robberies, the now accused, who is facing a total of 15 criminal charges, which include robbery, weapons, uttering threats and failing to comply with probation orders wore a disguise," Leon added. "One disguise in particular that was shared by police, was that of the infamous caped crusader Batman."

He waits in custody for a bail hearing today.
