There will be a new route for next month's Barrie Santa Claus parade.
The parade will happen on Nov. 18, and according to the Barrie Chamber of Commerce, the parade will start at Tiffin Street and Lakeshore Drive at 5 p.m. and head north on Lakeshore Drive past Centennial Park and up Toronto Street. From there, the floats and Santa will head east on Dunlop Street, past Meridian Place with the Noella Festival and ending at Poyntz Street, just east of Mulcaster Street.
"Travelling on Lakeshore will provide the parade with the beautiful backdrop of Lake Simcoe, providing ample vantage points for families along the way. Residents and businesses alike will have more freedom of movement in the area; allowing them to easily access the route," the Chamber explained in a news release on Thursday. "By introducing these changes, we're blending the old with the new, promising an amazing experience for all."
Once the parade ends, the public is encouraged to head to the Noella Festival for musical entertainment, the Festival of Trees at Heritage Park by the Barrie Rotary Club, and a fireworks show put on by the City of Barrie.
