A Barrie man has been charged with second-degree murder after city police responded to a disturbance call on Saturday.
Barrie police and paramedics were dispatched to Grove Street East, just east of Duckworth Street, near midnight.
"Upon arrival, police located the 75-year-old male victim, who was unconscious and had injuries to his head and face," officials with the Barrie Police Service wrote in a release on Sunday morning.
"Despite the life-saving efforts of police and paramedics, the victim succumbed to his injuries."

They say an investigation revealed that the suspect had been involved in an altercation with the victim and fled the scene before the arrival of police.
Shortly after 6:00 a.m. this morning, a 46-year-old was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder.
"This investigation is ongoing, and further information will be released as the investigation permits," officials said.
"This incident appears to be isolated, and police do not believe there is a threat to public safety. Anyone with information is asked to contact police."
