Barrie Serves Up 2019 Arts Awards

Barrie honoured its Arts Community Wednesday night handing out the 2019 Arts Awards at Liberty North.

Mayor Jeff Lehman noted the critical role arts play as the city grows. Culture and creativity, he said, are essential components of a healthy, complete community.

Among those honoured for making that happen…

Bob Hunter – Cultural Changemaker (posthumously)
One of the driving forces behind the development of an outdoor performance facility on the waterfront (Meridian Place).
Alyssa Bartholomew – Most Promising Youth
A singer and actor who taught herself to play the guitar and ukelele. She also started her own YouTube channel.
Madison Mueller – Emerging Artist
Released her first studio-produced song “Who Am I’ in November 2016. She plays everywhere locally, including in the streets of downtown Barrie.
Joie Red – Artist Beyond Barriers
Advocate, inspirational speaker and writer.
Barriston Law – Business Champion
Over the years has extended support to organizations it feels exemplify the values it believes are essential to a strong arts community.
Michael Jack – Excellence in the Arts
Multi-Gold and Platinum award-winning producer/recording engineer.
Lawyer Marshall Green – Contribution to the Community
Continues to keep the community informed of upcoming arts and cultural events.
