Police identify suspect in early-morning stabbing in Barrie

A man is in life-threatening condition and a suspect has been identified following a stabbing just after midnight Saturday morning in Barrie.

Police arrived in the area of Anne Street North and Donald Street to find a 43-year-old Barrie man in life-threatening condition. He was eventually brought to a local hospital before being air-lifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre.

Anne Street North was closed from Donald Street to Edgehill Drive for the investigation until around 4:30 a.m. Among the units involved were the Forensic Identification Unit and Canine Unit.

Police say detectives identified a 28-year-old Barrie man, Adam Myshak as a suspect in the incident, wanted on charges of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, and aggravated assault.

They urge anyone not approach to approach the suspect and instead contact police if he's spotted.

The service continues to appeal to the public for information, dash cam, or other video footage in the area.
