There is an invitation from Am Shalom Congregation (ASC) in Barrie to attend a 'solidarity community' service in the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Israel.
"As the Jewish people, we will come together as we do each week and pray for Shalom, for peace, because that is who we are and that is what we stand for," according to the ASC website.
It says memorial prayers/kaddish will be included for the people of Israel who have lost their lives from the terror attacks.
"Prayers for speedy recovery for all those who have been injured and prayers for those who have been taken hostage will be included."
The service will take place on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. until noon at the synagogue, located at 767 Huronia Road.
“We have Israeli families in the community who have family members in Israel. It is an especially difficult time for them,” said Rabbi Audrey Kauffman, in an email to Barrie 360. “We have provided our members with contacts for where they can provide donations for funds and supplies.”
All local politicians, dignitaries and other faith leaders are also invited to join our service.
"We are asking all those of the Jewish faith, as well as individuals of other faiths, to join us in solidarity at this critical time and support for the State of Israel, the ASC website says.
