News release - the City of Barrie
The City of Barrie is asking residents and sports groups to share their visions for Barrie's outdoor pickleball and tennis courts by November 10, 2023. Feedback will help provide direction into the City’s first Outdoor Racquet Sports Strategy (ORSS).
In preparation for future growth and in response to a resurgence in tennis participation and a rapidly growing pickleball interest, the ORSS will provide long-term planning for outdoor tennis and pickleball facilities, and related services.
There are several ways to share your feedback:
- Take the survey to share your tennis and/or pickleball experiences and how we can enhance them. Eligible participants can be entered for one of four prize packs.
- Join an information pop-up to learn more about the project, ask questions and provide feedback.
- Organized tennis and pickleball groups in Barrie can register for the Sports Groups workshop for a facilitated discussion on October 26.
The Outdoor Recreation Sports Strategy is anticipated to be complete in February 2024. Kids aged 12 and under can participate in a colouring activity to be entered for a prize pack. Activity sheets are available at the information pop-ups and online.
