News release - The City of Barrie
The City of Barrie is recognizing Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day on Saturday, March 18 by saying thank you to the many people who show up each day to get people to where they need to be through Barrie Transit’s regular and specialized services.
“Our transit operators and workers play a vital role in the everyday lives of Barrie residents,” said Mayor Alex Nuttall. “Their dedication is what keeps our city moving and with the recent Provincial and Federal funding that we just received, we look forward to further improving our transit system for the benefit of transit operators, workers and riders.”
Many residents rely on transit daily to get to work, school, events or appointments. When getting on or off Barrie Transit on March 18, riders are encouraged to say an extra “thank you” to their transit operator.
Barrie Transit service operates under a contract with MVT Canadian Bus Inc. The company employs 185 staff to operate Barrie Transit's fleet of 47 conventional buses and 15 specialized buses.
