Barrie police say they were contacted early Monday morning about a "wandering male" in the Allandale neighbourhood.

At 1:10 a.m., officers say a male was walking up and down Greenfield Avenue, having just knocked on the door of the homeowner who had contacted them.

"Police located the male and determined that he had been dropped off by a ride-share service, but unfortunately at the wrong home and on the wrong street," officers said in a release on Tuesday.

"It was also noted that the male was intoxicated which would likely account for his actions that prompted the call to police."

Officers say they found out where the male lived and drove him home to family.

"Barrie Police wish to thank the concerned citizen for making the call to police rather than approaching the unknown male or opening their door to a stranger at that time of night," officers added.
