A Barrie man is facing a slew of firearm and drug charges after a call to a convenience store on Tuesday.
At 9:34 a.m., Barrie Police Service officers responded to the Ferndale Drive South store.
According to police, a report said two men had just left the store and one of them was believed to have a firearm.
"Police located the males and immediately commenced an investigation," officers said on Wednesday.
"Both men were detained and one of them, a 24-year-old from Barrie, was found to be in possession of a fully loaded semi-automatic pistol. Also in his possession was a large amount of Canadian currency and suspected hydromorphone."

The man was transported to police headquarters and he was charged with:
- Carry firearm and ammunition in a careless manner
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Carrying concealed weapon
- Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
- Possession of restricted firearm with ammo
- Possession of a schedule I substance – hydromorphone
- Traffick in schedule I substance – hydromorphone.
He is scheduled for a bail hearing today.
