Barrie’s downtown transit terminal can be used as cooling centre during heat warning

Terminal had been closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic

The forecast for the Barrie area contains a lot of heat and humidity, but for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, Barrie has a cooling centre set up.

The Barrie Transit Terminal on Maple Avenue can be used as a cooling centre. The terminal has been closed to the public over COVID concerns.

There will be time limits in place for those making use of the terminal to help keep within the maximum number of people allowed within and to promote turnover.

The city points out as the province is in Stage 2 of the reopening plan, there are other places, such as beaches, splash pads, malls, and retail stores, for those looking for relief from the heat.
