Barrie’s Will Dwyer rides a 5km loop for Terry Fox Run

He has his sights on raising another $1 million

A pandemic didn’t stop 94-year-old Will Dwyer from doing his part for the Terry Fox Run in Barrie. On Sunday, Dwyer and his supporters warmed up to the tune of “I Would Walk 500 Miles” before he rode his scooter around his retirement home for 5km.

This is the 40th year he has participated in the Annual Terry Fox Run, reaching the $1 million donation mark last year.

Dwyer says he will continue to participate as long as he can. He now has his sights on raising $2 million for cancer research.

Organizers were still counting the donations in Barrie. They were close to $50,000 at last count. More than $24,000 dollars were raised in Orillia.
