Saturday's Barrie Baycats game against the London Majors was postponed due to unplayable field conditions after a delay of more than an hour after the scheduled first pitch.
It's the third consecutive scheduled game the Baycats have had postponed air-quality related decisions this week.
The first pitch for Saturday's game was originally set for 4:08 p.m., but after heavy rains soaked the Springwater area in the early afternoon, the grounds crew at Athletic Kulture Stadium had significant work to be done to get the field ready.
Much of the attention centred around a portion of sod behind the shortstop position at the edge of the infield. One particular area had collected a lot of water, and there was concern about potential injuries occurring if the game were to be played.
After multiple half-hour delays, the decision to eventually call the game was made by officials at approximately 5:20 p.m.
Barrie has not played since July 10, and is set to play at home on Sunday afternoon against Toronto in what is the rescheduled contest from Thursday.
Neither team has announced a starting pitcher for the game.
A makeup date for Saturday's meeting with London is yet to be announced.
