Another suspicious fire at a local defunct water park
Springwater Fire Services got the call on Saturday night to Splash Canyon Water Park on Nursery Road. Fire crews arrived just after 10:00 to find the abandoned structure fully engulfed in flame, while Springwater Deputy Fire Chief Jeff French says it took about half an hour knock it down, “We went into a defensive attack, with 25 firefighters on scene to combat the fire. It took 30 minutes to bring the fire under control and there were no injuries.”
The OPP and Fire Marshall’s Office are investigating this fire as suspicious. Anyone with information is asked to contact the OPP’s Huronia West Detachment at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
This is not the first such fire reported at the abandoned attraction; the OPP investigated a suspicious fire at Slash Canyon in July of 2016.
