
Three men have been charged after nearly $3,500 worth of booze was allegedly stolen from a liquor store in Huntsville.
Ontario Provincial Police were alerted about the theft around 9 p.m. Thursday. Given the nature of the theft, officers conducted patrols of the Bracebridge store, located on Muskoka Road 118.
Less than an hour after the Huntsville theft was reported, police located the suspect vehicle, along with the three suspects, in a commercial parking lot on Muskoka Road 118, near the possibly targeted store. One suspect attempted to flee on foot and was quickly arrested. The remaining two suspects fled in their vehicle and then returned to the area around 3 a.m. Thursday.
"Diligence on the part of the officers not only located the suspect vehicle but brought the two remaining suspects safely into custody," OPP said in a news release.
A 28-year-old from Brampton was charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of break-in instruments
- Obstruct peace officer
- Fail to comply with release order X 2
- Careless driving
A 24-year-old from Woolwich Township was charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of break-in instruments
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
- Flight from peace officer
A 30-year-old from Toronto was charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of break-in instruments
- Obstruct peace officer
All three individuals have been held for a bail hearing.
