Both teens are members of the Barrie Public Library's LIT Crew (Leaders and Innovative Teens). Since joining the force in 2021, Katie has racked up 57 hours volunteering for teen programs and events, while Daniela has clocked in an impressive 61 hours since 2022. Their youthful energy and innovative ideas are helping shape exciting experiences for their peers.

The celebration also shone a spotlight on Phoenix Gray, a Children's Program Volunteer at the Painswick Library. Since 2021, Phoenix has dedicated 78 hours to igniting a love of learning in younger patrons by supporting and enriching children's programs and events.

The ceremony wasn't just about recognizing fresh faces; it also highlighted the unwavering dedication of seasoned volunteers.

Power couple Jim and Lois Scott were honoured for their decade of service with the Visiting Library Service. Rain or shine, for ten years they've ensured homebound community members can access library resources by delivering materials directly to their doorsteps.

A warm round of applause also went out to Wendy Krs, Masa Sone, and Robin Milani, all recognized for their five years of exceptional service. Although unable to attend the ceremony, their contributions haven't gone unnoticed.

Wendy and Masa lead discussions within the English Conversation Circle, fostering confidence among participants seeking to improve their English speaking skills. Masa also lends a helping hand at the library's Café, while Robin brings a playful spirit to the Play, Learn, Grow program, where they engage both children and their families in early literacy development.

"We are incredibly proud of all our volunteers for their dedication and hard work," said Emily Fleming, Volunteer Resources Coordinator at the Barrie Public Library. "Each of these individuals brings unique skills and energy to our programs, and their contributions are invaluable to the success of our library."

The Barrie Public Library extends its deepest appreciation to its entire volunteer team.

Their unwavering commitment and enthusiasm are the fuel that keeps the library a vibrant and welcoming space for the whole community.
