A 17-year-old male was given a litany of drug-related charges after he was found in the midst of Barrie Police investigating a large gathering Sunday in Barrie.
Just after 11 p.m., officers responded to a report that 30-40 people were gathered in a parking lot close to Johnson's Beach and engaging in disruptive behaviour.
During the response, police received further information that some were loudly revving their engines and emitting large amounts of smoke with manoeuvres they were making.
Meanwhile, a 17-year-old was there and police noticed a stench of cannabis from his vehicle and began to investigate. He was found in possession of cannabis while being arrested.
Police also searched a satchel he was wearing and was found to be in possession of:
- a loaded semi-automatic firearm
- suspected fentanyl
- cocaine
- methamphetamine
- Canadian currency
- Paraphernalia related to the sale of illegal drugs
After being brought to Barrie Police headquarters, he was booked on 17 different charges relating to illegal possession and failure to comply with Youth Criminal Justice Act probation.
He has been held in custody for a bail hearing which is scheduled to take place today.
Barrie Police says that a few others were arrested at the scene, but later released unconditionally with no other charges laid.
