Two men, who had separate warrants issued against them on Monday, were arrested by patrolling Barrie Police Wednesday morning near the downtown area.

Just after 7:30 a.m., an officer conducting a proactive patrol in the area of Collier Street and Clapperton Streets recognized a man walking on the sidewalk that was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with a probation order.

The 31-year-old man was arrested without incident and brought to Barrie Police Headquarters, where he was held in custody for a bail hearing set to happen on Thursday.

Later in the morning, another man was arrested in the same area after being recognized for an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.

That 33-year-old man was also transported to the service's headquarters and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

"Having familiarity of wanted persons in our community and through proactive police patrols, the investigating officer was able to hold two males accountable for their inability to comply with court related orders," Barrie Police said in a news release.
