Bracebridge OPP seize drugs, weapon during traffic stop in Gravenhurst
OPP say they, and the canine unit, located the driver after he fled the scene on foot
Bracebridge OPP say drugs and a weapon have been seized and two men charged after a traffic stop in Gravenhurst.
On Thursday, Feb. 10, just before 9:30 p.m., OPP say they were conducting speed enforcement on Highway 11 in Gravenhurst when they stopped a vehicle for driving well over the limit.
After engaging with the driver, officers say they found out he was on criminal conditions and not allowed to leave his home.
Police say when the driver exited the vehicle he became confrontational, fought with officers, and fled the scene on foot.
OPP say they, along with the canine unit, conducted a search and located the driver around 12:30 a.m. in a commercial area along Highway 11, and took him into custody.
Police say a sizeable amount of cocaine and fentanyl were seized, along with a large sum of money and a loaded restricted firearm.
OPP say a 23-year-old York man and a 22-year-old North York man are facing numerous drugs and weapons charges.
Officers say both are in custody and will appear in Bracebridge court on Friday for a bail hearing.
