Bradford home a total loss following Monday morning fire, cause to be determined

Heavy damage to ground floor and two vehicles

Officials with Bradford Fire say a home was destroyed by flames in Bradford early Monday morning.

Fire crews were called to a home on Professor Day Drive around 2 a.m., arriving to find the home fully engulfed. The residents of the home had already escaped, and fire crews had the homes on either side cleared as a precaution.

The fire was brought under control around 5 a.m. Deputy Fire Chief Olaf Lamerz told Barrie 360 the structure is a total loss, adding there was heavy fire damage to the main floor and parts of the second. Two vehicles were also lost as a result of the fire, and a neighbouring home suffered some minor damage.

At the fire’s height, there were 19 firefighters, five apparatus, and two utility vehicles battling the blaze. The Office of the Fire Marshall has been called in to assist in determining a cause.
