Bradford murder victim identified

Investigators say the victim was killed after coming to the aid of a young woman

UPDATE: South Simcoe Police say the victim of Sunday’s murder has been identified as 59-year-old Cameron David Goddard of Bradford. Police released his name on Thursday following notification of his family.

South Simcoe Police have identified the victim of Sunday’s murder in Bradford, but his name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Officers found the victim around 4:30 a.m. on Holland Street West in the area of Deer Run Crescent. They say he was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The investigation has determined that the victim suffered a fatal injury after coming to the aid of a young female involved in a violent altercation with the accused,” according to a news release from police on Wednesday.

The woman was transported to hospital where she was treated and released.

A 20-year-old Bradford man faces multiple charges including second-degree murder.

He is being held in custody following a bail hearing.
