There's a new theory on what led to the death of Bruce Lee.
Doctors have revealed a kidney dysfunction could have led to the death of the martial arts star 50 years ago.
He died in 1973 at the age of 32. At the time, doctors said he died of swelling in the brain, blamed on painkillers.
Researchers now say the swelling may have been caused by hyponatraemia, which messes with the kidney's ability to excrete water.
In a statement, researchers say, "We hypothesize that Bruce Lee died from a specific form of kidney dysfunction: the inability to excrete enough water to maintain water homeostasis, which is mainly a tubular function."
"This may lead to hyponatraemia, cerebral oedema (brain swelling) and death within hours if excess water intake is not matched by water excretion in urine."
The excess water would cause the brain to swell. At the time of his death, Lee's wife stated he was on a liquid diet consisting of carrot and apple juice.
