
Old wounds are opening thanks to a reignited Reddit discussion about a birthday party gone wrong.
Around 6 years ago, a mother posted on Reddit, confused after she and her daughter went to a birthday party held at the famous "Build-A-Bear Workshop."

Once the party started, the kids started making their beloved bears with a lot of TLC and assumed they could keep their stuffy because that's what happened at a previous BAB party she attended
They assumed wrong.
Once it was time to leave, the birthday girl's mother told the kids to give their teddy to her daughter.
You can imagine what happened. Tears, sadness, and disappointment for the kids. And confusion for the adults.

After the whole party was invited to the house for cake, and more presents for the birthday girl.
That killed the festive mood, so people left early.
The original poster asked if this was the standard Birthday party practice at the store, and people said a resounding "No!"
One put it perfectly saying "THEY HAVE YOU KISS THE BEAR'S HEART! That is so intimate and loving, the act of building a 'bear,' for a kid, it's the closest thing to being forced to give away their 'child.' I'd be traumatized. This is so twisted and wrong."
