Barrie police has announced multiple new efforts to help the search of a missing Barrie woman on Tuesday.

In partnership with Barrie Transit and Pattison Outdoor Advertising, five city buses will display an image of 27-year-old Autumn Shaganash for the rest of April.

Along with the buses, digital billboards will also display the image around the city.

The locations of the billboards are:

  • Anne Street, north of Jacobs Terrace (facing north and south)
  • Big Bay Point Road, east of Huronia Road (facing east)
  • Big Bay Point Road, west of Welham Road (facing east)

Barrie Police Corporate Communications Coordinator Peter Leon hopes the new efforts will lead to a break in their investigation.

“These buses are going to go to all corners of the City of Barrie and the billboards are in heavily travelled areas… We're hoping that this may turn the corner on this ongoing investigation,”

said Leon.

Police say Autumn was last seen on Friday, June 9, 2023. She was seen leaving a family member’s home in the area of Burton Avenue and Frank’s Way at 11:00 p.m.

According to authorities, between 9:30 and 9:45 a.m. on June 10, a text message was received from Autumn asking to be picked up. Three minutes later, her sister attempted to respond, although it appeared her phone had been turned off.

Autumn was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, tan-coloured leggings, slip-on Puma sandals and was carrying a black and tan coloured purse.

Along with the new efforts, a $50,000 reward is available for information confirming the whereabouts of Autumn.

“We encourage the public that if you have information no matter how big or small to share, please call the Barrie Police Major Crime Unit at 705-725-7025 extension 2160,”

said Leon.
