Buzz Lightyear blasts off in official "Lightyear" trailer
Before becoming Andy's toy and Woody's best friend, Buzz Lightyear was an intergalactic hero.
Disney/Pixar has released the trailer for "Lightyear", the backstory of the famous animated astronaut.
The origin story of Buzz lightyear shows us the astronaut flying to different planets, fighting the evil emperor Zurg, and picking up a cute kitten companion along the way.
So, what's the movie about exactly?
Director Angus Maclane said Buzz's world was something he was excited about.
In a statement, MacLane said, "there seemed to be this incredible backstory to him being a space ranger that's only touched upon in 'Toy Story,' and I always wanted to explore that world further."
"So, my 'Lightyear' pitch was, 'What was the movie that Andy saw that made him want a Buzz Lightyear toy?' I wanted to see that movie. And now I'm lucky enough to get to make it." MacLane said.
Buzz will be voiced by Chris Evans, replacing Tim Allen. Other voices include Keke Palmer, Dale Soules, and Taika Waititi.
It goes to infinity and beyond on June 17, 2022
