CAA South Central Ontario has announced it will permanently close its retail location in Barrie at the end of the month, citing changing consumer habits and a growing preference for digital services.
In a statement to Barrie 360, the organization said the decision reflects broader changes in how members access CAA products and services, with more people choosing online and remote options instead of visiting a physical storefront.
"This decision reflects ongoing changes in consumer preferences and the broader evolution of the retail landscape, as more Members choose to access services through digital and remote channels," the organization said.
CAA said it remains committed to providing members with convenient access to services despite the closure. Members will continue to access the full range of CAA offerings through the organization's call centre and website.
"As our organization adapts to these shifts, we remain focused on delivering convenient, accessible, and high-quality service to our Members in the ways they prefer."
The closure marks the end of CAA's physical retail presence in Barrie, but the organization emphasized that support for members will continue uninterrupted through alternative channels.
CAA also took the opportunity to thank local residents for their support over the years.
"We would like to sincerely thank the Barrie community for their many years of loyalty, trust, and support. It has been our privilege to serve this community, and we are grateful for the relationships we have built over time."
The Barrie location is scheduled to close at the end of the month.
