Calling All Singletons

Today is Dating Sunday and dating apps expect a surge in activity

Singles are on the prowl.

It’s Dating Sunday.

The first Sunday of the year is traditionally a big day for dating apps.

Bumble is expecting a 30 per cent spike in users today. At Match, an 80 per cent increase in new users on its website is not out of the realm of possibility.

What’s the big deal about Dating Sunday?

A Bumble spokesperson says this comes down to singles not wanting to be single anymore, adding it’s a mix of New Year’s resolutions, post-holiday breakups and Valentine’s Day around the corner.

According to a Stanford University study done last year, online has become the most popular way heterosexual couples meet, and actually moved into first place in 2013, surpassing meeting through friends.
