A large gathering is expected along Barrie's waterfront Saturday evening for a candlelight vigil to honour the six young people killed in last week's car crash.

The six victims were all in their early 20s, and were found dead at the site of the single-vehicle crash early Sunday, on McKay Road near Veteran's Drive, hours after police reported them missing.

The crash had not been reported to police when officers got to the scene at a large concrete pit.

Police have yet to identify the victims, but friends and family members say they are 22-year-old Curtis King, 23-year-old River Wells, 22-year-old Jason O'Connor, 22-year-old Luke West, Jersey Mitchel and Haley Marin.

Tributes have poured in over recent days, eulogizing the victims as future social workers, talented athletes, gifted students and loved sons and daughters.

The City of Barrie has said the road where the crash happened has been closed except to local traffic since the spring for a municipal construction project.

The vigil is to begin at 8 p.m. near the Spirit Catcher.
