OPP say lack of safety equipment contributed to drowning deaths in Haliburton

Both victims are from the GTA

Provincial police have identified the two males who drowned when their canoe capsized on Moose Lake in Haliburton.

OPP say there were three people in the canoe when it overturned just before 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7.

One of the adult males was able to make his way to shore and was uninjured.

The victims have been identified as 25-year-old Hoseung Song of Toronto and 22-year-old Jungock Park of Richmond Hill.

Investigators are citing the lack of safety equipment as a significant contributing factor in this tragedy.
