Another Barrie Baycats game has fallen victim to the wildfire smoke from northern Ontario drifting southeast.

The team's game, originally scheduled for Friday night, in Hamilton against the Cardinals has been postponed. It marks the second consecutive day Barrie has had a game postponed due to concerns with the air quality.

Instead, the game has been rescheduled to August 18.

In a statement on social media, the Cardinals said the decision was made "out of concern for the health and safety of our players, coaches, officials, volunteers, and fans."

As of 12 p.m. on Friday, the air quality index in Hamilton was measured at eight, or high risk, with Environment Canada forecasting levels of 10 or 10+ (very high risk) leading up to first pitch and continuing through the time the game would have been played.

CBL games in London and Brantford have been postponed for the same reason.

For the Baycats, the changes to this week's schedule has forced manager Josh Matlow to make some changes to the pitching rotation. Frank Garcés, who was expected to start Friday, will instead take the mound on Saturday against London for his third consecutive start against the Majors.

Saul Vasquez will shift from a scheduled start on Saturday to Sunday against Toronto in a game rescheduled from Thursday. That day's original slated starter, Juan BenĂtez, will instead be made available out of the bullpen through the weekend and will not start until Thursday's matchup at home against Brantford.
