Careless smoking to blame for garage fire in north Barrie

Officials say the damage total is around $50,000

Barrie firefighters tackled a garage blaze on Gloria Street Friday morning, which they say was caused by "improper disposal of smoking from cigarettes."

Fire officials say they were called to the location around 8:30 a.m. and that five occupants escaped with no injuries.

Officials say the damage total is around $50,000

This is the eighth garage fire in the city so far in 2023.
