Provincial police are investigating the theft of a catalytic converter from a vehicle belonging to a Bracebridge business.

The owner of the business at 345 Ecclestone Drive reported to police on Saturday regarding the incident involving one of his vehicles.

OPP say the theft happened around 5:00 a.m.

The suspect is described as tall, wearing black clothing and carrying a duffel bag.

"A catalytic converter is an exhaust emission control device that transforms hazardous gases and pollutants in a vehicle's exhaust into less-toxic pollutants," police wrote in a release.

"Catalytic converters contain precious metals, such as platinum, palladium, and rhodium which makes them attractive to thieves."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Bracebridge OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
