News release - City of Barrie
Progress on the Dunlop Street Interchange Trunk Sanitary Relocation project continues, and next steps in the work will include the full closure of the Cedar Pointe Drive/Edgehill Drive intersection from October 16 until mid to late December. There will be no through access on Edgehill Drive. Residents can access Cedar Pointe Drive from Dunlop Street. Local businesses on Cedar Pointe Drive remain open, and emergency services will have access at all times.
The Cedar Pointe Drive and Dunlop Street intersection reopened on October 5. The contractor is now working 24 hours per day (Monday to Friday), until November 1, to complete work on the sanitary installation and the restoration of the roadway.
Barrie Transit routes 5 and 6 are on a detour. Up-to-date information regarding transit detours can be found at MyRideBarrie.ca/News.
Residents are reminded to follow detours, use caution, plan ahead, and expect delays if travelling through this area. This project is expected to be complete in summer 2024.
This work is a key part of preparing for the Ministry of Transportation (MTO)’s Dunlop Street bridge replacement project, which is currently in the design and environmental assessment stage. Once the bridge replacement project starts, it's expected to take approximately four years to complete (approximately 2024 to 2028).
