The hours of operation at two Barrie COVID-19 centres are changing.
Moving forward, the Barrie COVID-19 Assessment Centre on Huronia Road will be closed on Saturday and Sunday. Testing will still be available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday for those with symptoms of COVID-19. Those symptoms include difficulty breathing, fever, cough, muscle aches, fatigue, headache, sore throat, or a runny nose.
Those without symptoms but would still like to get tested can do so at the RVH drive-thru testing centre. It will remain open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday to Friday, but is scaling back its hours of operation on Saturday and Sunday, and will only be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. until further notice. Appointments can be made by calling 705-728-9090 x49910. This phone line is only answered during clinic hours. If you do have an appointment, do not join the line of cars; carefully drive past and proceed to the parking spots marked A or B.
Meanwhile, additional testing is available at the Barrie & Community Family Medicine Clinics Walk-in Clinic at the Prince William – Shoppers Drug Mart Plaza on Big Bay Point Road. It is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday to Friday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends. While walk-ins are accepted, appointments are preferred. You can call ahead for an appointment at 705 722-1199. Patients are asked to arrive wearing their own mask or facial covering.
