Charges laid in collision that took life of former Barrie Olympian

A 28-year-old Angus man has been charged in the multi-vehicle collision last month in Dufferin County that took the life of former Barrie Olympian Alexandra Paul and injured four others.

The accused was driving a transport truck on Highway 124 when the collision occurred in a construction zone. He's been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and dangerous operation causing bodily harm.

Paul and her husband, Mitch Islam, won multiple international medals, three Canadian Championship medals, and competed at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games.

Police are still asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has a video of it, to contact them at 1-888-310-1122.
