Check- In & Chat program available to South Simcoe Seniors

Program connects seniors with a volunteer for weekly phone calls

A program that puts seniors in contact with a friendly voice for support is in the works in South Simcoe.

“Check-In & Chat” is a new initiative launched by CONTACT Community Services.

Seniors will be paired with a volunteer who will call them at a designated time to see how they are doing.

The volunteers will also help them navigate the challenges they are facing due to social distancing, such as getting groceries or medications.

The program is available to all seniors living in South Simcoe – Bradford West Gwillimbury, Innisifil, New Tecumseth, Adjala-Tosorontio, and Essa.

People wishing to volunteer will go through screening, training, and will be provided support online and by phone.

To sign-up for the “Seniors’ Check-in & Chat” program, or if you would like to volunteer call Jaclyn, Resource and Information Specialist at CONTACT Community Services at 705 435 4900 ext. 215 and leave a message.
