Child among pedestrians struck by a vehicle in Orillia

Four pedestrians have been injured including a child after being struck by an SUV in Orillia.

"On August 24, 2023, around 12:00 p.m., members of the Orillia OPP Detachment along with Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a report of a motor vehicle striking pedestrians on Mississaga Street West near Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Orillia," police said in a news release.

Police said three pedestrians were injured and taken to hospital, while a child was transported by air ambulance for treatment of unknown injuries.

The driver did remain at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
