
The Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit executed a search warrant in the city on Thursday to assist their counterparts in Ottawa and took a 34-year-old man into custody.
He has been charged with several offences, including sexual assault, making child pornography, and making sexually explicit material available to a child.
Several computer devices were seized.
Police say the suspect was taken by detectives back to Ottawa where he was held for a bail hearing.
Meanwhile, the same Barrie police unit executed a search warrant at an address in Newmarket on Wednesday and arrested a 24-year-old man.
He has been charged with luring a child, making sexually explicit material available to a child, and making child pornography.
Police say a number of computer devices were seized for forensic examination.
The accused was to appear for a bail hearing on Thursday.
