A three-month investigation by the Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit has resulted in the arrest of a 40-year-old man.

Police say the Barrie resident was arrested on Wednesday and has been charged with accessing child pornography, two counts of possession of child pornography, and distribution of child pornography.

According to police, the investigation has confirmed the accused used the web service provider Yahoo to upload child pornography.

As part of the investigation, police executed a search warrant at the residence of the suspect and seized several computers allegedly containing child pornography.

The suspect was held for a bail hearing.
