You know the snow is expected to start flying soon when the City of Barrie enacts its winter parking restrictions for another year.
Starting first thing Tuesday morning, there will be no on-street parking permitted from 12:01 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., or from 3 to 6 a.m. in the downtown area. This will continue until March 31.
The annual parking restrictions allow the city’s snow plows free access to the entire roadway when clearing snowfall. Priority is given to those routes that see the most amount of traffic. Bayfield St., Yonge St., and Mapleview Dr. are included in these priority roadways. Secondary routes are primarily residential.
The city’s goal is to have most routes plowed 12 to 24 hours after the end of a snow event.
