News release - Downtown Barrie BIA

They’ve created around the world and now the creative duo Clandestinos will be making their mark in Barrie.

The Downtown Barrie BIA is excited to announce a new mural coming to Maple Avenue this November.

Artists Shalak Attack and Bruno Smoky first met in Rio de Janeiro in 2010 and began creating together almost immediately. They’ve brightened cities worldwide with their bold colourful style and after living in São Paulo, Montreal and Toronto, they decided to move to Barrie to raise their daughter Violeta. A few short months after relocating, the pandemic began, pausing their plans to start creating in their new hometown.

Now they’ll be making a splash in Downtown Barrie with a large mural on the side of Shak’s World Community Centre.

The mural will compliment the strawberry mural painted earlier this summer across the road, helping to bring vibrancy to the West End of Downtown.

They’ll also be creating in Meridian Place this Saturday, painting a new public piano that will replace the existing one that’s been in the square over the summer.

Stop by after 10 a.m. to see them in action.
