Clearview Township resident charged with arson

Damage to home was about $300,000

Huronia West OPP have laid charges in connection with a $300,000 house fire.

Police and Clearview fire responded to a blaze on the 6th Concession of Nottawasaga, Clearview Township, just before noon on Feb. 9, 2022.

Police say the two residents who were in the home at the time of the fire had escaped prior to the arrival of emergency services and were not injured.

As a result of a joint investigation between the Huronia West OPP Crime Unit and The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office, an arrest was made on Feb. 11.

A 30-year-old man from Clearview Township was charged with arson – disregard for human life.

He was held for a bail hearing in Collingwood court, and was remanded into custody.
