Four people have been arrested and two more are being sought by Barrie police after a robbery at a store in the Georgian Mall.
Officers were alerted about a theft in progress around nine Thursday evening as the mall was about to close.
From the initial information, police learned six males, all wearing face masks, entered the store and stole a large quantity of clothing. The suspects then fled the store and made their way to a vehicle.
Responding officers located the vehicle close to the mall in a parking lot, and the occupants took off on foot.
"Assisted by the Barrie Police Tactical Support Unit and Canine Unit, two suspects were immediately located and taken into custody as they tried to elude arrest in a nearby car dealership. An ongoing search of the area west of Bayfield and Hanmer Streets resulted in the arrest of two additional suspects," police said in a news release.
A 22-year-old from North York, a 19-year-old from Rexdale, a 20-year-old from Oshawa, and a 16-year-old from Oshawa, have been charged with theft under $5,000 and disguise with intent. They were held for a bail hearing on Friday.
"The Barrie Police Service wish to acknowledge the assistance received from the public with regards to this incident last night," the police news release stated. "The detailed information that was provided to our communications unit and subsequently shared with the responding officers significantly contributed to the positive outcome of this call for service."
