Collingwood and Blue Mountains OPP say they arrested and charged a woman with drug trafficking offences the same day they responded to calls about people "who were believed to have overdosed on fentanyl."
On Wednesday afternoon, police responded to a report of a suspicious woman and vehicle parked at the dog park on Second Street in Collingwood.
Police say they spotted suspected fentanyl in the vehicle and placed the woman under arrest.
OPP say they seized fentanyl, cocaine, and cash.
A 35-year-old Collingwood woman faces the following:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine)
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (fentanyl)
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime
She was held for a bail hearing and will appear in Collingwood court at a future date.
"This arrest occurred the same day that Collingwood OPP had responded to numerous complaints of fentanyl overdoses where OPP and other emergency services needed to administer naloxone to save those individuals," police wrote in a release.
OPP warn the public of the dangers of fentanyl as well as other street drugs. For more information, visit www.opp.ca/overdose.
