A 33-year-old man has been arrested and charged after stabbing a co-worker in Collingwood, provincial police say.

Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP were contacted on Friday afternoon.

"The incident happened at the Collingwood Presbyterian Cemetery where several individuals were conducting some repair work to the property," OPP said in a release on Monday.

"At some point during this work, one party stabbed a co-worker with a knife and fled the scene into a wooded area nearby."

Police say they arrived, contained the area, and arrested the suspect roughly one hour later.

They say the victim was sent to hospital with minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

A man from The Blue Mountains has been charged with:

  • One count of Assault with a Weapon
  • One count of Escape Lawful Custody

He was held for a bail hearing on Saturday and will have future court dates in Collingwood.
