Motive unknown as shots fired at Cookstown home, SSP say

South Simcoe police say they are appealing for information from the public after an incident involving gunfire at a Cookstown home this morning.

Multiple shots were fired at a residence on Mumberson Street around 4:25 a.m., according to the service.

"Preliminary reports indicate that a suspected dark, small SUV was involved. Fortunately, no injuries were reported," police wrote in a release.

"The motive behind this act remains unknown at this stage, therefore residents are urged to remain vigilant."

Officers say more information will be provided as it becomes available.
